Activity Monitor will do just as good of a job giving you info if you ever actually need to solve a problem with a runaway process or memory issues. These tools have legitimate uses, but I can't think of a reason why a normal user would need iStat in their menu bar all of the time. For a lot of people life is better without peeking behind the curtain, so to speak.

They see something in iStat (or even just Activity Monitor) or a memory tool that they're not familiar with, and they start worrying that their computer is "broken" or worse, they try to "fix" the problem and make things worse. This isn't meant to be snide or anything but as a computer technician I see the impact of "normal" users running advanced monitoring tools all the time. My hot take: if you're not exactly sure what it would be good for, you don't need it.
